From Pokémon Go to Super Mario Run, 2016 saw some massive hits in mobile gaming. And, why not? With better graphics processing hardware and the convenience of playing on the go, mobile phones are fast replacing computers and consoles as the go-to platforms for gaming. Then, there’s also the cost factor. Mobile games cost only a few pounds compared to console and PC games that cost tens of pounds (if not hundreds). Plus, you will need to fork out on a console, whereas mobile games can be installed on devices that are already being used by you every day.
2017 is set to pick up where 2016 left off with some exciting new launches. Here are the 5 most anticipated games due to hit app stores in 2017!

Antioch is based on a story by award-winning author Fibretigre. Attack on Titan
This game, based on the hit anime series of the same name, was to be made public in 2016 but was postponed to 2017. GameSamba, the developer of the game, has said that the premise of the game will not deviate too much from the acclaimed anime series. The game will follow Eren Yeager, a teenager who decides to join an elite group of soldiers who are on a quest to annihilate creatures known as Titans. The game will be available for both Android and iOS.
Hideo Kojima’s 2014 hit Framed is getting a sequel! Loveshack Entertainment, the studio that brought us the original game announced the sequel back in 2016 at the Melbourne International Games Week. Framed 2 promises to deliver some exciting new stories and puzzles. The premise of the game was innovative and became an instant hit when it was first released. Players solve puzzles by rearranging panels of an animated comic book to change the outcome of the story. The only information available as of now is that it is set for an early 2017 release!
This community simulation game by Nintendo has been available on Gamecube, Wii U, and Nintendo DS platforms for quite some time now. Nintendo originally planned to release it on mobile in 2016. However, it was pushed to a 2017 release. In the game play, a player assumes the role of a human and lives in a village filled with anthromorphic animals. It is an open-ended game and the player must tend to the animals, build farms, and socialise with other village residents. The game is likely to be available both on Android and iOS.
Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone's Conspiracy
This puzzle game is the seventh game based on the Professor Layton series. In this game, Lady Layton is tasked with finding her father Professor Layton! Players must examine various settings and examine clues to find her missing father. She will be helped by her dog and faithful companion, Sharo in solving the mystery. The puzzles are designed by Kuniaki Iwanami. The game, which will be available for both Android and iPhone, will be released in the spring of 2017.
