China calling plans
In 2008, government reforms in China produced three integrated operators: China Unicom, China Telecom, and China Mobile, decreasing the number of primary operators from six to three. The brand new convergence of operators were to increase China’s telecommunications industry, especially with the predicted growth after 3G licenses were eventually given later in 2008.
The market went through a straightening-out period after the government began industry restructuring in 2008. China Mobile is considered the key player; however, the 3G spaces predict a more balanced allocation of market share. The mobile division is still increasing at more than 10% annually and 3G services are beginning to add momentum, backed by a more established value chain.
China maintains a substantial world-class telecom infrastructure and the level of investment is due to continue increasing. As data traffic develops, the key operators are expanding both domestic and international connectivity via submarine and terrestrial cable connections. The country remains positive about its space program and has created a local industry to grow, construct, and setup communication satellites.
